1. Who We Are
AbokiCalculator (abokicalculator.com) is a free information website that publishes naira exchange rates, money calculators and bank code checkers. It is run independently from Lagos, Nigeria by its founder and editor, Patrick. AbokiCalculator decides why and how personal data on this site is used, so it is the data controller. It is not part of, or affiliated with, any bank, the Central Bank of Nigeria or any payment provider.
This policy follows the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies to you, we also follow it. Contact for anything in this policy: hello@abokicalculator.com.
2. What We Collect, Why, and Who Else Handles It
You do not need an account, and you do not have to give us any personal information to use the tools. This is everything we collect or arrange to be collected.

Our rate feed fetches exchange rates from Open Exchange Rates on our own server. That is a server-to-server request, and nothing about your visit is sent to them. Please do not put passwords, PINs or card numbers in a message to us. The other checkers and calculators work inside your browser page and do not send what you type to us or to anyone else.
3. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The cookies and storage we have seen on this site are _ga and _ga_* from Google Analytics, _clck and _clsk from Microsoft Clarity together with a Clarity entry in your browser's session storage, and cookies that Google sets when it shows advertising. Our cookie policy lists them, what each does and how long it lasts.
Consent. At the date of this policy the site does not yet show a consent message, so analytics, session replay and advertising cookies may be set when a page loads. We plan to add a message that lets you accept or reject them, and we will update this page when it is live. Until then you can block these cookies in your browser or use the choices in section 8.
Cookies that are strictly necessary to run the site do not need consent. Analytics, session replay and advertising cookies are not necessary, so where the law requires consent for them, we rely on your consent.
4. Advertising and Affiliate Links
This site uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and other sites on the internet. Google may also use signals to detect invalid or fraudulent ad traffic.
You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ad Settings, and learn more about how Google uses data from sites that use its services on Google's partner sites page. You can also opt out of interest-based ads from participating vendors through the Digital Advertising Alliance tool or, in Europe, Your Online Choices.
Some US state laws treat advertising cookies as a kind of sharing or sale of personal information. We do not sell your personal information for money, and the opt-outs above are how you stop interest-based advertising.
Some pages may contain affiliate links. If you click one and sign up with the service, we may be paid a commission at no extra cost to you. The partner may set its own cookies, under its own privacy policy. We do not send partners your name or email address. See the disclaimer for how affiliate links are handled.
5. Who We Share Data With
- Google, for Analytics, AdSense and Google Fonts, under Google's privacy policy.
- Microsoft, for Clarity, under the Microsoft privacy statement. Microsoft explains how Clarity works in its Clarity privacy disclosure guidance.
- GLEIF and Razorpay, only when you use the LEI lookup or the IFSC checker, under the GLEIF privacy policy and the Razorpay privacy policy.
- Our website host and email provider, who store data for us and may not use it for their own purposes.
- Authorities, if the law, a court or a regulator requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of this site or its users.
We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not use it for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
International transfers
Google and Microsoft process data in many countries, including countries other than Nigeria and outside the European Economic Area and the UK. They describe the safeguards they use in their own policies, linked above. Our website host may also be outside Nigeria.
6. How Long We Keep It
- Messages are kept for as long as we need to answer you and to keep a record of a reported error and its correction. You can ask us to delete yours at any time.
- Server logs are kept for the period our website host keeps them.
- Analytics, Clarity and advertising data are kept by Google and Microsoft for the periods set in their services and in their policies.
- Browser storage stays on your device until you clear it or the page removes it.
7. Your Rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, and under the GDPR or UK GDPR where those apply to you, you may have the right to:

To use a right, write to hello@abokicalculator.com. We will acknowledge your request within 5 business days and answer within 30 days. We may need to check who you are first. Analytics and advertising data is not linked to your name, so we may not be able to find you in it, and for that data the opt-outs in section 8 are the way to stop it.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, or, if you are in the EEA or UK, to your local data protection authority.
8. Your Choices
- Browser settings. Block or delete cookies and clear local storage. See aboutcookies.org for how. Some tools remember less if you do.
- Google Analytics. Install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on for your browser.
- Personalised ads. Use Google's Ad Settings, the Digital Advertising Alliance tool or Your Online Choices.
- Microsoft Clarity. Block the Clarity cookies in your browser, and read the Microsoft privacy statement for your other options.
- Lookup tools. Do not use the LEI lookup or the IFSC checker if you do not want what you type sent to GLEIF or Razorpay.
9. Children, Security and Other Sites
Children. The site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you think a child has sent us personal data, tell us and we will delete it.
Security. The site is served over HTTPS and we take reasonable steps to protect the data we hold. No system is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.
Other sites. Pages link to other websites, including references and affiliate partners. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, so please read their policies.
10. Changes to This Policy
We update this policy when we add a tool, change a service such as analytics or advertising, or when the law changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change affects how we use your personal data in a way that matters, we will say so on this page.
