Singapore Bank Code

Singapore Bank Code Checker

Find a Singapore bank's code and SWIFT code, split a 7-digit bank and branch code, and work out the branch code from an account number.

Singapore banks have a 4-digit bank code. DBS and POSB are 7171, OCBC is 7339 and UOB is 7375. A 3-digit branch code goes after it to make the 7-digit code that some GIRO forms ask for. For most people the branch code comes from the account number, and DBS says it is the first 3 digits. FAST and PayNow transfers do not ask for a bank code at all. You pick the bank and type the account number, or use a mobile number, NRIC or FIN.

Bank name, bank code or SWIFT code

Type a bank name such as POSB, a 4-digit bank code, a 7-digit code or a SWIFT code. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

Work Out the Branch Code From an Account Number

Choose the bank, then type the account number. The tool checks its length against ABS's FAST fact sheet and gives the branch code where the bank publishes a rule.

Bank
Account number
This tool checks lengths and applies the branch code rules that banks publish. It cannot tell whether an account exists, is open, or belongs to the person you expect. Singapore banks do not publish a check digit, so there is no digit test. Confirm the account number and the account holder's name with the recipient before you send money. Bank codes and SWIFT codes are from the ABS list updated as of 29 April 2026. Last checked 19 September 2026.

All 49 Singapore Bank Codes and SWIFT Codes

These are the banks in the Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) list of participating GIRO banks, updated as of 29 April 2026. The FAST column says whether the bank is a FAST participant in ABS's fact sheet of 7 July 2026. The digits column is the length of a savings or current account number, from the same fact sheet.

National Australia Bank (8077) is no longer on the list. ABS's update of 29 April 2026 removes it with effect from 26 May 2026. Green Link Digital Bank and Hong Leong Finance appear in the FAST fact sheet but have no bank code in the ABS GIRO list, so they are not in this table.

How Singapore Bank Codes Work

A Singapore bank code has four digits, and a branch code has three. Together they make a 7-digit code, written like 7171-081. This is what an Interbank GIRO form or a payment file asks for. Some banks have more than one code because they have more than one legal entity. ABS's announcement says HSBC's personal accounts moved to HSBC Bank (Singapore) Limited, code 9548, on 9 May 2016, while corporate accounts stayed with the Singapore branch of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, code 7232. Citibank has 7214 for Citibank N.A. and 9201 for Citibank Singapore Limited.

Branch Codes for the Main Banks

Most Singapore banks have dropped branch names from consumer forms. DBS's page says you do not need to give a branch name. The branch code is now taken from your account number, and the rule differs by bank:

How to find the branch code from the account number
BankRuleExample
DBSBranch code is the first 3 digits of the 10-digit account number0052312891 gives 005, so 7171-005
POSBBranch code is 081 for every 9-digit account084102395 gives 081, so 7171-081
OCBCFirst 3 digits of the 10 or 12-digit account number5501089550 gives 550, so 7339-550
HSBCFirst 3 digits of the 12-digit account number146123456789 gives 146, so 9548-146 (personal)
SBIFirst 3 digits of the 14-digit account number27712345678901 gives 277, so 7791-277
Standard CharteredA 0 and the first 2 digits of the 10-digit account number1803645852 gives 018, so 9496-018
UOBLook up the first 3 digits of the 10-digit account number in UOB's table9102031012: look up 910
For OCBC, HSBC and SBI, ABS says customers must use the full account number, which includes the branch code, for FAST and GIRO. UOB's guide says only the old Interbank GIRO file format splits the branch code from the account number. Follow your bank's form.

UOB's branch code comes from a table that UOB publishes in its ACH Bank & Branch Code Guide, and this page does not copy it. Look up the first 3 digits of the account number there. For any other bank, ask the bank, or use FAST, which does not need a branch code.

FAST, PayNow, GIRO and Cheque: Which Needs a Bank Code?

Singapore payment methods compared
MethodSpeedYou give
PayNowInstant, 24/7Mobile number, NRIC/FIN, VPA or UEN
FASTAlmost immediate, 24/7Bank and account number, no branch code
Interbank GIROUp to 3 working daysBank code and account number, branch code at some banks
ChequeUp to 2 working daysPrinted on the cheque

Speeds are from ABS's FAST fact sheet and FAQ. FAST takes up to S$200,000 per transaction, and your bank or e-wallet provider can set lower daily, monthly or annual limits. Fees are set by each bank. FAST is for Singapore dollars between accounts in Singapore, and cannot go to an overseas account.

PayNow: No Bank Code at All

ABS describes PayNow as sending and receiving Singapore dollars through FAST using a mobile number, Singapore NRIC/FIN or Virtual Payment Address (VPA). Businesses and other entities use their UEN. The sender does not need the recipient's bank or account number. PayNow launched on 10 July 2017 for banks and is free to retail customers, and you register the number or NRIC once in your bank's app. The name of the recipient is shown before you confirm, so check it.

Receiving Money From Abroad

Someone abroad needs your account number, your name as it appears on the account and your bank's SWIFT/BIC code. They do not need the 7-digit code. ABS's list gives 8-character codes, such as DBSSSGSG for DBS, OCBCSGSG for OCBC and UOVBSGSG for UOB. Some banks have separate codes for different entities, such as HSBCSGS2 for HSBC Bank (Singapore) Limited. Singapore is not in the IBAN registry, so do not make up an IBAN. Find other banks' codes with our SWIFT code lookup.

Never share your PIN, password or one-time codes with anyone who says they are sending you money.

What This Page Uses

Bank codes, legal names and SWIFT codes are from the ABS SWIFT BIC for Participating GIRO Banks list, updated as of 29 April 2026. We compared codes with UOB's ACH guide of 10 March 2026, DBS's bank code page and ABS's HSBC announcement. Account digit lengths and FAST participation are from ABS's FAST fact sheet of 7 July 2026. Branch code rules are from the banks and ABS as named above. ABS's list changes, so check the source if a code matters. We last checked on 19 September 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Singapore bank code?

A 4-digit number that identifies a bank in Singapore. The Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) lists one for each participating GIRO bank, such as 7171 for DBS and POSB, 7339 for OCBC and 7375 for UOB. A 3-digit branch code after it makes the 7-digit code, written like 7171-081.

What are the bank codes for DBS, POSB, OCBC and UOB?

DBS and POSB are 7171, OCBC is 7339 and UOB is 7375. Standard Chartered is 9496, Maybank Singapore is 7302, CIMB is 7986 and HSBC personal accounts are 9548. The table on this page lists all 49 banks.

Do DBS and POSB share the same bank code?

Yes. Both are 7171. DBS says its accounts have 10 digits and the branch code is the first 3 digits, and POSB accounts have 9 digits and the branch code is 081.

What is a branch code and how do I find mine?

A 3-digit code that goes after the bank code. It now comes from your account number, and the rule depends on the bank: the first 3 digits for DBS, OCBC, HSBC and SBI, 081 for POSB, and a lookup in UOB's table for UOB. The account number tool on this page applies these rules. There is no public list of every bank's branch codes, so we cannot check that a branch code exists.

Do I need a bank code for FAST or PayNow?

No. ABS says FAST needs the recipient's name and bank or e-wallet account number, and you choose the bank in your app. PayNow needs only a mobile number, NRIC/FIN, VPA or UEN. Bank codes are for Interbank GIRO forms and payment files, and some banks no longer ask for them even there.

Is the 7-digit bank code the same as a SWIFT code?

No. The 7-digit code is for payments inside Singapore. The SWIFT/BIC code, such as DBSSSGSG for DBS, is for payments from another country. Give an overseas sender the SWIFT code and your account number, and not the 7-digit code.

What SWIFT codes do the main banks use?

From ABS's list: DBS DBSSSGSG, OCBC OCBCSGSG, UOB UOVBSGSG, Standard Chartered SCBLSG22, Maybank Singapore MBBESGS2, CIMB CIBBSGSG and HSBC Bank (Singapore) HSBCSGS2. The table on this page has the rest.

Does Singapore use IBAN?

No. Singapore is not in the IBAN registry, so there is no IBAN to give. If a form asks for one, ask the sender's bank what to enter, and give your account number and your bank's SWIFT code.

How many digits does a Singapore account number have?

It depends on the bank. From ABS's FAST fact sheet, savings and current accounts have 9 or 10 digits at DBS and POSB (10 for DBS, 9 for POSB), 10 or 12 at OCBC, 10 at UOB, 10 at Standard Chartered, 11 at Maybank Singapore and 12 at HSBC Bank (Singapore). Credit card, loan and virtual accounts have other lengths.

Is there a check digit to validate a Singapore account number?

Singapore banks do not publish one, so no tool can prove an account number is valid from its digits. This page checks the length against ABS's fact sheet, and that only catches numbers of the wrong length.

Why does HSBC have two bank codes?

ABS's announcement says that from 9 May 2016 personal accounts moved to HSBC Bank (Singapore) Limited, with bank code 9548 and SWIFT code HSBCSGS2. Corporate accounts stayed with The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, Singapore Branch, with bank code 7232 and SWIFT code HSBCSGSG.

Why is a bank I am looking for missing?

The table has the banks in ABS's list of participating GIRO banks. National Australia Bank is removed from it with effect from 26 May 2026. Green Link Digital Bank and Hong Leong Finance are in ABS's FAST fact sheet but have no code in the GIRO list. Ask the bank for its details.

What are the FAST limits and hours?

ABS's FAQ says you can transfer up to S$200,000 per transaction, subject to daily, monthly, annual or other limits set by your bank or e-wallet provider. Most participants offer FAST 24 hours a day, but some apply a cut-off after which the value date is the next business day. FAST is for Singapore dollars within Singapore only.

Where does the data come from and how current is it?

Bank codes, names and SWIFT codes are from the ABS list of participating GIRO banks, updated as of 29 April 2026. Lengths and FAST participation are from ABS's FAST fact sheet of 7 July 2026. Branch rules are from DBS, UOB's ACH guide of 10 March 2026 and an ABS note. The lists change, so a newer one may differ. We last checked on 19 September 2026.

Is anything I type stored or sent?

No. The lookup runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server or saved by this page.

This page is for information only. It does not contact any bank. Confirm payment details with your bank before you send money. Not financial advice.
