Who runs this site

AbokiCalculator is built by Nigerians with direct experience in cross-border payments and FX operations. The people behind this site have spent years inside Nigerian banking and remittance infrastructure. That context matters when the rate you see affects what your family actually receives.

Rates are sourced from parallel market data and updated every business day. We don't fabricate numbers or estimate. If a rate is not available, we say so.

Common Questions

What is the black market rate vs CBN rate?

The CBN (Central Bank of Nigeria) publishes an official interbank rate. The parallel market rate. sometimes called the aboki rate or black market rate. reflects what bureaux de change and street traders actually trade at. The gap between them varies and matters a lot if you're receiving a remittance.

How often are rates updated?

Rates are updated every business day. The parallel market doesn't trade on weekends, so Friday's rate carries through Saturday and Sunday. Always check again Monday morning before making a transaction.

Why do I need to validate a bank code?

A single wrong digit in an IBAN, SWIFT, or routing number will cause a wire to fail. Banks typically charge $20 to $50 to recall a failed transfer. Validating before you send takes 10 seconds and costs nothing.

Is this site free to use?

Yes. All tools and rates are free. No account, no sign-up, no paywall. The site is supported by contextual advertising and affiliate links to services relevant to Nigerian users. We don't sell your data.
